It seems that the fashion this year is for Halloween Funny costumes, swiftly followed by the more usual gruesome variety – superheroes and film characters are definitely ‘out’ according to a number of fashion gurus.
Top ten Halloween Funny Costumes include The Cat Lady, which is one of my personal favorites, and I have to confess to a sneaking fondness for the South Park Satan – I know it’s a character costume but it just has a certain something that makes me laugh. The Whoopie Cushion is usually good for a laugh too. When it comes to gruesome I have to say The Zombie fits the bill just perfectly, and is fairly highly rated on the fashion stakes too. There isn’t much that is more ghoulish than that. Quite how popular Bigfoot is going to be this year after the recent hoax reported on Discover Magazine is another matter. I’m not sure that the Slime family would be any too pleased if I paid out $50,000 for what turned about to be just a frozen costume!
Kid’s costumes, especially for the Tots don’t seem to much affected by fashion – how many little girls want to be a Princess, even if it isn’t quite what you’d expect for Halloween, though I‘ve met some seriously scary princesses in my time, and Batman is a perennial favourite amongst the boys. There’s a lot to be said for the perennial favourite of a sheet over the head too – just don’t cut eye holes in one of the best linen sheets like the neighbours kids did last year!
