Halloween Funny Stuff

Last time we looked at how to create the atmosphere for your Halloween Funny Haunted House Party, now it’s time for costumes, props, food and games.

Props finish off the effect you have started to create with the lights and decorations outside the house. You can make great bloody hands by filling surgical gloves up with sand, closing the open end off with a rubber band, and then some ‘blood’ effects with red paint.   Dry ice creates great mist and fog effects but it will burn your skin if you touch it so make sure it is in containers where the mist can escape but no one can touch it.  When it comes to suspending your decorations that you don’t want the thread to show so use a strong black cotton rather than fishing line as that will show up in black light.  Don’t put them where anyone can get hurt by them, safety must always come first.  Make sure stairs are well lit as you don’t want anyone falling head first down them.

If you decide to make it a themed party, then there are loads of different Halloween Costumes you can get, from the traditional witches, ghouls and ghosts, or you could go for movie characters - scary or not.  TV and film characters can be good too, especially if you give them a macabre twist.  Personally I think a good Zombie takes some beating, though this year it is the ‘Cat Lady’ costume that seems to be taking the prizes.

Music and Games are important too, whatever the age of your guests.  You can go with the traditional Monster Mash and Thriller, and you can get some great sound effect cd’s which re very effective to help create the atmosphere of the Halloween Funny Haunted House - or even the not so funny haunted house.    I like to have a mixture of active games like ‘Hunt The Severed Arm’ or ‘Pass the Parcel’ made up with dripping squishy paper and jelly between the layers.  A variation of Musical chairs is ‘Scared Stiff’, just freeze when the music stops, when someone moves, they are out.  Then you can download some good Halloween Party Games like themed Bingo, Pictionary and other things like that when you want to have a few quiet moments, especially if your party is for kids and you want them to stay a bit calmer after they have eaten!

Halloween Food is easy, you can do ‘Finger Rolls’ for sandwiches, dye the drinks red or black with food colouring, and do the same with the ice cubes too.  You can try my Halloween Brains Dessert, Gravestone cake, wriggling worms pasta to mention but a few things.  Cakes and cookies can be made into all sorts of shapes and all sorts of spooky colors.  Grapes make good eyeballs, especially if you peel them - and what could be better than having to plunge your hands through a mound of worms to get to the ‘Treats’ buried beneath.  Have a Spooktacular Halloween Funny Haunted House Party!
